"The work, finished in December
2004, is made of three linked movements: Andante, Allegro, Allegro/Andante.
It is built on the basis of an eleven-pitch series (an unconscious
memory of the Musical Offering Thema Regium?), which creates a sound
world close to Schönberg's last works (one especially thinks of the
string trio).
What is striking in this sonata is the controlled lyricism, the deep
beauty of the sound, the genuine modesty, the sense of the litotes."
Michel Meynaud, composer, teacher at the National School of Music in
Beauvais.
